Bartly is the youngest son of Howard Bolton Betts and Doris
Eleen Hovey. Howard was the eldest son of Alma Betts, the oldest son of Richard Samuel Betts, the third son (ninth child) of Peter Betts, the son of William Betts.
Doris Eleen Hovey was the daughter of Grafton Franklin
Hovey and Annie Stokes.
