Ratty's new home

Ratty the Rat put a sack on his back
To go out and find a new home.
First, he asked Miss O’Leary,
but she said “No, my, dearie,
“I’ve nothing to eat but a bone.”

When he asked Mrs. Carter,
She near snapped her new garter,
and cried, “You get out of my house!”
When he begged Mrs. Cubby
Her well-rounded hubby,
Was nasty, and called him a mouse!”

He then asked Miss Blister and her elderly sister,
But they had that look in their eyes.
So he called on Mrs. Champ,
Who just called him a tramp,
And accused him of letting in flies.

When he talked to Mrs. Betts, she couldn’t stand pets,
and her husband was no winner.
So he asked Mrs. Kitty
Who, so charming and witty,
said, “ You’re just in time for dinner!”
