Lord, for tomorrow and its needs
I do not pray:
Keep me, my God, from stain of sin
Just for today.

Let me both diligently work
And duly pray,
Let me be kind in word and deed
Just for today.

Let me be slow to do my will,
Prompt to obey,
Help me to mortify my flesh
Just for today.

Let me no wrong or idle word
Unthinking say:
Set Thou a seal upon my lips
Just for today.

Let me in season, Lord, be grave,
Let me be gay,
Let me be faithful to Thy grace,
Just for today.

And if today my tide of life
Should ebb away,
Give me Thy sacraments divine
Sweet Lord, today,

So for tomorrow and its needs
I do not pray
But keep me, guide me, love me, Lord,
Just for today.

Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are;
help us to spend them as we should.
Psalm 90:12

Spend your time in nothing which you know must be repented of.
Richard Baxter

We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths; in feelings,
not in figures on a dial. We should count time by heart-throbs.
He most lives who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best.
Phillip James Bailey

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year... .
Finish every day, and be done with it. You have done what you could.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
